About this estimate (2026 rules, checked 15 October 2026)
Assumptions
- Salaried employee (Angestellte/r) working in Vienna for the whole year
- Gross pay in 14 equal payments: 12 monthly salaries plus the 13th and 14th (holiday and Christmas pay), paid in different months
- Single, no children: no Familienbonus Plus, no sole-earner or single-parent credit
- No commuter allowance, no church contribution, no deductions beyond the €132 flat employment expenses
- Wage tax as withheld through payroll; refunds from the yearly tax assessment (Arbeitnehmerveranlagung) are not included
- Vienna rates for the housing subsidy contribution (0.75% each side) and the employer's surcharge to the DB (0.36%)
- Employer cost excludes Vienna's Dienstgeberabgabe (U-Bahn-Steuer: €2 per employee per started week, about €104 a year); the BMF calculator leaves it out too
Notes
- Low pay: reduced employee unemployment insurance (0–2% instead of 2.95%).
- On this income the yearly tax assessment (Arbeitnehmerveranlagung) may refund part of the wage tax or social insurance; that refund is not included.
